Barbara E. Hort, Ph.D. has focused her professional work on the discovery of meaning, even in the darkest realms of human experience. For more than 30 years, Dr. Hort has maintained a private practice in Portland, Oregon, with primary attention to the psychology developed by psychoanalyst Carl Jung.
By integrating her work as a Jungian practitioner, an academic psychologist, and a psychodramaturg in live theater, Dr. Hort has developed a remarkable new perspective in her work, as she demonstrates in her upcoming book, Hollow Crown of Fire: A Discovery of Meaning in the Coronavirus Pandemic and Its Predecessors. In addition to Hollow Crown of Fire, Dr. Hort has authored Unholy Hungers: Encountering the Psychic Vampire in Ourselves and Others (Boston: Shambhala, 1996).
